I decided to look back at our pre-season predictions and it was quite interesting. I’m going to break it up and while some still have to be decided, you can look back and decide for yourself how we did.
East Champion | West Champion | Stanley Cup | Conn Smythe | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Michael | Florida | Colorado | Colorado | Nathan MacKinnon |
Corey | Carolina | Colorado | Colorado | Mikko Rantanen |
Ryan | Florida | Vegas | Vegas | Mark Stone |
Joey | NY Islanders | Colorado | Colorado | Nathan MacKinnon |
Anna | NY Islanders | Colorado | Colorado | Nathan MacKinnon |
Mark | Tampa Bay | Colorado | Tampa Bay | Andrei Vasilevskiy |
Jeff | Florida | Colorado | Colorado | Nathan MacKinnon |
Matt | NY Islanders | Colorado | NY Islanders | Mathew Barzal |
Jeff and I were correct on the Eastern and Western Champions as we each had Florida and Colorado. Joey, Anna and Matt all had the Islanders winning the East and they did not even make the playoffs while in the West, all but Ryan had Colorado. Ryan took Vegas which also did not make the post-season.
As far as the Trophy races are concerned, everyone had Connor McDavid winning the Art Ross while everyone save for Joey had Auston Matthews winning the Rocket Richard. Joey selected Kirill Kaprizov who had an outstanding season, just not good enough to top Matthews’ 60 goals.
The Norris should go to Roman Josi whom no one took but Ryan and I had Victor Hedman whoe Corey, Joey, Anna, Jeff and Matt had Cale Makar who along with Josi are the Norris finalists.
No one had any of the Vezina winners as six took Vasilevskiy and Jeff had Connor Hellebuyck.
The Calder will likely go to Moritz Seider who no one had while Trevor Zegras was picked by Corey and Mark. Caufield came on strong at the end but his poor start cost him while the same could be said for Spencer Knight.
The Selke finalists have not been announced as of May 11 and neither has the Adams finalist although we know it will not be Joel Quenneville.
As far as the fantasy picks below, we will leave it up to your judgment as to how well or not we did.
