Nazem Kadri took a step back in 2020-21 when he generated 11 goals and 32 points in 56 games after he had 19 goals and 36 points across 51 matches. He already has 11 goals and 34 points through 22 appearances this season.
Unfortunately, he left Wednesday’s game against the New York Rangers because of a lower-body injury. Kadri didn’t play in the third period after he returned from a one-game absence due to a lower-body ailment. It is unclear at this time if the issues are related. Hopefully, Kadri is able to return quickly from this latest injury as well.
Colorado had another injury scare on Wednesday night when Rangers defender Jacob Trouba delivered a hard hit to Nathan MacKinnon. The Avalanche forward was removed from the game by concussion spotters, but he felt fine and received the green light to return.

The Avalanche won a second straight time, while scoring seven goals again, and snapped the Rangers’ seven-game win streak.
Nazem Kadri accounted for one goal and two assists prior to leaving the game because of a lower-body injury.
Logan O’Connor and Mikko Rantanen netted a pair of goals each for Colorado.
Nathan MacKinnon and Alex Newhook had the other makers for the Avalanche, while Devon Toews and Samuel Girard contributed two helpers apiece.
Jacob Trouba registered a Gordie Howe hat trick, with a goal, an assist and a fighting major, for a second consecutive contest.
Filip Chytil also had one goal and one assist for the Rangers.
Nils Lundkvist had the other marker for New York in the defeat.
Gabriel Landeskog, Valeri Nichushkin, Erik Johnson, Cale Makar, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Kurist MacDermid, Alexis Lafreniere, Artemi Panarin, Ryan Reaves and K’Andre Miller chipped in one assist each.
Landeskog has three goals and nine assists during a nine-game point streak.
Darcy Kuemper stopped 26 of 29 shots for his 10th win of the year. He returned from an upper-body injury in the contest and temporarily left the game due to an equipment issue. Johan Johansson blocked the only shot he faced in 1:33 of playing time.
Adam Huska gave up seven goals on 39 shots to pick up the loss in his NHL debut.
PHILADELPHIA 0 NEW JERSEY 3
The Devils halted a four-game winless skid (0-3-1) with a shutout victory over a Flyers team that has a 10-game winless slump (0-8-2).
Mackenzie Blackwood shielded all 25 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season and his fifth win.
Jesper Bratt notched one goal and one assist in the second period to extend his point streak to three straight contests. He has seven goals on the season and three have been game winners.
Dawson Mercer netted a power-play goal in the second period. His seventh goal of the season ended his seven-game goalless drought.
Michael McLeod sealed the win with an empty-netter.
Nico Hischier, Jack Hughes, Yegor Sharangovich, Damon Severson and Ty Smith contributed one assist apiece.
Carter Hart made 24 saves on 26 shots in the loss.

BOSTON 1 VANCOUVER 2 (SO)
The Canucks emerged victorious for a second straight time under new head coach Bruce Boudreau thanks to a shootout win over the Bruins.
Brock Boeser opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 15:01 of the second period. He has lit the lamp twice in the past two games after he didn’t have a goal in his previous 13 outings.
Patrice Bergeron tied the match with a power-play just before the five-minute mark of the third period. He was also credited with a game-high nine shots.
J.T. Miller, Quinn Hughes, David Pastrnak and Charlie Coyle posted an assist each.
Nick Foligno had a game-high six hits.
Thatcher Demko, who celebrated his 26th birthday, stopped 35 of 36 shots and didn’t allow a goal on two attempts in the shootout. He is up to 10 wins on the campaign, including his past two starts.
Jeremy Swayman blocked 31 of 32 shots, but surrendered two goals on three attempts in the shootout to take the loss.
DALLAS 4 VEGAS 5
The Golden Knights have a three-game win streak after ending the Stars’ seven-game win spree.
Mark Stone led the way with three points, including two goals. He got the game-tying goal at 14:47 of the third period and assisted on Max Pacioretty’s game winner just over a minute later.
Pacioretty also assisted on Stone’s second goal of the contest for a multi-point performance.
Jason Robertson had one goal and one assist, while Joe Pavelski scored twice. Robertson and Pavelski’s second-period tally came on Dallas power plays.
Roope Hintz, John Klingberg, Alex Pietrangelo and Nicolas Hague registered two helpers apiece.
Michael Amadio and Jonathan Marchessault had the other goals for Vegas, while Tyler Seguin got a goal on the man advantage for the Stars.
William Karlsson, Shea Theodore, Keegan Kolesar, Dylan Coghlan, Andrej Sekera, Ryan Suter and Jamie Benn earned one helper each.
Marchessault and Hague were both credited with a game-high seven shots on target.
Robin Lehner was pulled after he allowed three goals on 10 shots in 27:38 of action. Laurent Brossoit turned aside 12 of 13 shots and picked up the win in relief.
Braden Holtby made 40 saves on 45 shots and ended up with the loss after the Stars failed to hold onto a pair of two-goal leads.
