As is usually the case on a Saturday, we had no shortage of action. Along the way we saw some perfect starts come to an end with Carolina dropping to 5-1-0 and Philadelphia losing to Vancouver in overtime. The Rangers were also 2-0-0 to start the season, but they lost to Edmonton, which now has the best record in the NHL at 5-0-0. It’s their first 5-0-0 start since 1985-86 and the third time they’ve ever won their first five games.

It was a decisive 4-1 win by the Oilers and it’s certainly nice that three of their wins have come on the road. There’s still plenty of hockey left of course, but after so many years of suffering, it looks like the Oilers might finally be competitive.
