The Pittsburgh Penguins don’t have Sidney Crosby, but they still managed to score a stunning eight goals against the Vancouver Canucks last night. They needed it too after Vancouver established a 4-2 lead by the end of the second and a 6-3 lead early in the third.
Evgeni Malkin, Jake Guentzel, and Bryan Rust each recorded at least four points in the comeback win. All three of them are now averaging at least a point-per-game. Along with Sidney Crosby, that brings them up to four players with at least a point-per-game. To put that into perspective, the Tampa Bay Lightning have three players with at least 1.00 points-per-game. Of course, the problem with the Penguins has been injuries. Malkin and Rust have only played in 14 games each while Crosby is sitting at 17 games and won’t be back for about four weeks. If the Penguins ever get entirely healthy, their offense will be extremely dangerous.

Matthew Tkachuk contributed a goal and an assist for the Flames. He’s up to 11 goals and 23 points in 28 games.
One of Buffalo’s two goals was scored by Victor Olofsson. It was his ninth marker and 19th point in 25 games.
Linus Ullmark stopped 26 of 29 Flames shots. He’s allowed three goals in three of his last four starts.
At the other end of the ice, David Rittich saved 34 of 36 shots. The Flames have gotten at least a point in each of his last three starts (2-0-1).

The Senators’ lone goal was netted by Thomas Chabot. It was his third goal and 15th point in 25 games.
Zdeno Chara accounted for the game-winning goal. He has five goals and 16 points in 25 contests.
Brad Marchand scored the Bruins’ other goal. He’s up to 18 goals and 43 point in 25 games.
Tuukka Rask saved 33 of 34 Senators shots. He’s won his last five starts.
Anders Nilsson kicked out 19 of 21 shots last night. He surrendered both goals on 11 shots in the third period.
TORONTO 6 DETROIT 0
Frederik Andersen posted a 25-save shutout. This is his first perfect game of the 2019-20 campaign and the 17th of his career.
Robby Fabbri fired a team-high four shots against Andersen. Despite that, he’s been held off the scoresheet in three consecutive games.
Andreas Johnsson netted a pair of goals and recorded an assist. That gives him seven goals and 15 points in 26 contests.
Tyson Barrie’s turn around continued with a goal and an assist. He’s on a five-game point streak and three-game goal scoring streak. That brings him up to three goals and 12 points in 26 contests.
Jimmy Howard stopped 11 of 14 shots in 9:48 minutes of play before having to leave the game due to a lower-body injury. Jonathan Bernier stepped in and saved 37 of 40 shots the rest of the way.
ST. LOUIS 4 TAMPA BAY 3
Oskar Sundqvist scored a pair of goals for the Blues. He has eight goals and 12 points in 26 contests.
Three of the Blues’ four goals were assisted on by Ivan Barbashev. That gives him two goals and 10 points in 26 games.
Jordan Binnington stopped 32 of 35 Lightning shots. He’s won three of his last four starts.
Andrei Vasilevskiy saved 29 of 33 shots last night. He dropped to 9-7-0 with a 2.90 GAA and .908 save percentage in 16 contests.
Nikita Kucherov scored a goal and registered two assists for Tampa Bay. He’s up to nine goals and 24 points in 21 games.
NY RANGERS 3 CAROLINA 2
Ryan Dzingel scored a power-play goal for the Hurricanes. It was his fifth goal and 16th point in 25 games.
Two of the Rangers’ three goals were assisted on by Artemi Panarin. That brings him up to 12 goals and 32 points in 23 games.
Adam Fox scored the game-winning goal and registered an assist. He has four goals and 13 points in 23 contests.
Henrik Lundqvist stopped 41 of 43 Hurricanes shots. He’s now won three of his last four starts.
At the other end of the ice, Petr Mrazek kicked out 22 of 25 shots. All of the damage came in the first period when he allowed three goals on 11 shots.[[ad:athena]]

Vancouver held 4-2 and 6-3 leads, but the Penguins charged back in the third period. Before that though, J.T. Miller and Adam Gaudette each scored two goals for Vancouver.
Quinn Hughes assisted on three of Vancouver’s six goals. He has two goals and 21 points in 25 games.
Thatcher Demko allowed seven goals on 39 shots. Five of those goals were scored on 13 shots in the third period.
Evgeni Malkin led the charge for Pittsburgh with two goals and three assists. He’s up to six goals and 19 points in 14 games.
Jake Guentzel contributed two goals and two assists for the Penguins. That gives him 14 goals and 25 points in 25 games.
Bryan Rust found the back of the net and had three helpers. The Pittsburgh forward is up to nine goals and 17 points in 14 contests.
Matt Murray stopped 10 of 14 shots before being yanked late in the second frame. Tristan Jarry saved six of eight shots the rest of the way.

Vincent Trocheck scored a goal and registered an assist for Florida. That gives him four goals and 13 points in 18 contests.
Brendan Leipsic netted the game-winning goal. It was his third goal and eighth point in 26 contests.
Alex Ovechkin also scored a goal for the Capitals. He has 16 markers and 26 points in 26 games.
Braden Holtby saved 37 of 40 Panthers shots. He improved to 12-2-4 with a 2.86 GAA and .909 save percentage in 19 starts.
Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 16 of 20 shots Wednesday night. He’s allowed at least three goals in each of his last three starts and six of his last seven games.

Claude Giroux scored the game-winning goal. It was his eighth goal and 18th point in 25 games.
Scott Laughton also netted a goal for Philadelphia. That gives him a goal and four points in 12 contests.
Brian Elliott stopped 28 of 30 Blue Jackets shots. He has a 6-2-2 record, 2.68 GAA, and .915 save percentage in 13 contests.
At the other end of the ice, Joonas Korpisalo saved 19 of 22 shots. He allowed two goals on eight shots in the second period.
Seth Jones found the back of the net for the Blue Jackets. He’s up to three goals and 14 points in 24 games.

John Gibson stopped 25 of 28 shots before the shootout. He was beaten twice in four shootout rounds, which results in the loss.
Darcy Kuemper kicked out 31 of 34 shots prior to the skills competition. He allowed one goal over the four shootout rounds.
Christian Dvorak netted a pair of goals for the Coyotes. He’s up to eight goals and 14 points in 26 games.
Alex Goligoski scored Arizona’s other non-shootout goal. It was his second goal and 15th point in 26 contests.
Sam Steel found the back of net for Anaheim. He has two goals and 10 points in 22 games.
COLORADO 4 EDMONTON 1
The Oilers’ lone goal was scored by Jujhar Khaira. It was his fifth marker and point in 25 games.
Mikko Koskinen stopped 46 of a staggering 50 shots. He faced at least 14 shots in every period.
Matt Nieto scored the game-winning goal. He’s up to five goals and 10 points in 24 games.
Nathan MacKinnon netted a goal and registered an assist. That gives him 15 goals and 35 points in 24 contests.
Philipp Grubauer stopped 19 of 20 shots last night. The only goal he allowed was scored at 13:17 of the first period. At the time it put the Avalanche down 1-0, but obviously they were able to rebound nicely.
LOS ANGELES 4 NY ISLANDERS 1
Dustin Brown scored a goal and registered an assist. He’s up to six goals and 14 points in 25 contests this season.
Alex Iafallo also had a goal and an assist for the Kings. He has five goals and 14 points in 25 games.
Jonathan Quick stopped 24 of 25 shots last night. He improved to 7-9-1 with a 3.33 GAA and .885 save percentage in 17 games.
At the other end of the ice, Semyon Varlamov saved 26 of 29 shots. This was his first regulation time loss since Oct. 8th.
Derick Brassard scored the Islanders’ only goal. It was his seventh goal and 17th point in 23 contests.

Patrik Laine scored a goal and registered two assists. He’s up to seven goals and 23 points in 23 games.
Kyle Connor contributed a goal and an assist. That gives him nine goals and 20 points in 25 contests.
Connor Hellebuyck stopped 32 of 33 shots last night. He has a 12-7-1 record, 2.35 GAA, and .930 save percentage in 20 contests.
Melker Karlsson accounted for the Sharks’ lone goal. He has two goals and three points in 23 games.
Aaron Dell saved 21 of 25 shots Wednesday night. He’s surrendered at least four goals in three of his last four games.
