After opening with rounds of 63-71 at Crestview Country Club in Wichita, Ks., the 29-year-old Nunez tied the course record Saturday with a 9-under 61 that included five birdies and two eagles. It marked the second consecutive tournament where Nunez was in the top five after 54 holes: He sat T-2 after three rounds at the BMW Charity Pro-Am the week prior and finished T-3 at Thornblade Club in Greer, S.C., for the second-highest finish of his career, only behind a solo second at the 2017 Corales Puntacana Championship. Nunez, who has three PGA Tour Latinoamerica victories, has made 12 cuts in 17 KFT starts this season, with an additional three top 25s. Highlights include a T-9 at the Lake Charles Championship, T-7 at the Veritex Bank Championship and a T-9 at the Visit Knoxville Open, where he recorded four rounds in the 60s at all three events. He’s in the field for this week’s Live and Work in Maine Open, which kicks off Thursday at Falmouth Country Club in Falmouth, Me.
