Greg Norman is returning to the Western Open for the first time since 1996.
Norman has played in 10 Western Opens, finishing in the top five seven times. He was second in 1991, 1992 and 1993, the first three years the tournament was played at its current site at Cog Hill Golf Club.
Norman, a two-time major winner, has played four tournaments on the PGA Tour this year but has made only one cut, at The Players Championship.
The Western Open, which will be played July 1-4, also has commitments from 2003 Masters winner Mike Weir, Davis Love III, Chicago native Jeff Sluman and former champions Jerry Kelly and Scott Hoch. Defending champion Tiger Woods is also expected to play.
