LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Tom Watson took care of lunch for the maintenance crew at Valhalla Golf Club on Monday.
Watson had pizza delivered for the workers who kept the course as playable as possible despite the heavy rains and flooding during the Senior PGA Championship.
Crew members gathered at one hole and awarded Watson with a loud ovation when he played through.
‘A little pizza goes a long way, I hope,’ Watson said, praising course superintendent Mark Wilson’s crew.
‘They deserve all the kudos for getting this course ready so we could finish today,’ Watson said. ‘It very well could have been that we would have been playing into Tuesday.’
Watson finished in a three-way tie for fourth at 2-under 282, six strokes behind winner Hale Irwin.
