DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Tiger Woods will miss the World Match Play Championship again.
Woods, who has played only once in the event, said Wednesday the dates, Oct. 14-17, clashed with his Tiger Woods Foundation clinic.
‘No, I’m not going to play,’ Woods said while preparing for the Dubai Desert Classic. ‘It’s my foundation clinic.’
In 1998 he lost in the final to friend and fellow American Mark O’Meara.
The event offers a $1.9 million prize to the winner, one of golf’s richest. Despite the money, organizers have consistently failed to lure Woods and many top Americans to the event at the Wentworth Club just outside London.
