ORLANDO, Fla. – Tiger Woods finished bogey, double-bogey Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational because of a failed up-and-down from the bunker on 17 and a water ball at the last. But he came away from his final competitive round before the Masters encouraged about the state of his game.
“I played well all day, it was just a very, very disappointing finish,” the former world No. 1 said.
A six-time winner at Bay Hill, Woods’ last two holes, which dropped him to 1 under for the week, ruined any chances at claiming another backdoor top-10 as he did at the WGC-Cadillac Championship. But he feels he’s ready for the Masters.
“It’s gotten better every week I’ve played and just need to keep progressing” Woods said. “Now it’s feeling very, very good.”
Woods also mentioned he’ll make a short trip to Augusta this week for an early look at the golf course and the club’s most recent changes. He said he’ll be able to focus more on the course instead of the state of his game, as he did last year.
‘It’s nice to be actually, you know, in more tournament shape going in. And again, they made a couple of changes, so I’ll take a look at those and develop a game plan.’
