AUGUSTA, Ga. – He’s probably too far back to make a realistic run at his first major championship on Sunday at Augusta National, but Ricky Barnes is fast becoming a major player.
Although he came up short last year at Bethpage, finishing tied for second place after leading for much of a soggy week, Barnes is off to his most consistent season and is currently tied for sixth at the Masters at 6 under.
“He’s like Phil (Mickelson), he loves the big stage,” said Barnes’ swing coach Dean Reinmuth. “I feel good about today. He’s hasn’t had that one hot moment.”
