THOUSAND OAKS, Calf. – Thanks to Martin Kaymer, who opted to caddie for his girlfriend at this week’s Ladies European Tour pre-qualifying school, Nick Watney’s year is not in the books just yet.
Although Watney – who filled out the 16-man Chevron World Challenge field when Kaymer withdrew – hasn’t played competitively since the WGC-HSBC Champions in China earlier this month he’s been plenty busy.
Watney married his longtime girlfriend on Oct. 30 in a small church in Carmel, Calif. The next day the two flew to China followed by an extended honeymoon in Bora Bora.
He’s also been celebrating the San Francisco Giants’ World Series triumph. So if he seems rusty it’s because he is.
