When looking at the first day of the WGC-Accenture Match Play, he thought that the Donald-Els match was very compelling because you had the defending champion and World #1 starting against a 3-time Major Champion. The fact that Els won just proved how compelling this format really is and there are really no favorites in this event.
Survive and advance is true in the NCAA Tournament and it is true in the WGC-Accenture Match Play as well. It does not matter what you do as long as you win and Tiger Woods won yesterday despite having far from his best game on the course. Tiger can certainly go out today and beat Nick Watney in a landslide but will also not be surprised if Tiger loses to Watney in a landslide.
Keegan Bradley has apologized for his spitting last week during the Northern Trust Open and the stories about his pre-shot routine reminds him of what Sergio Garcia did with his routine during the 2002 U.S. Open. This is a different situation but Bradley will have to work on this and will certainly have to work on his spitting because it is not a good image for golf on television. He thinks that Keegan will be able to do alter his routine successfully.
For many years, he has supported the idea of making the TOUR Championship a 32-man Match Play event and he feels that the TOUR Championship would become something other than the boring, routine, no-cut money grab that it more closely resembles. The fact that the format is different will give the event more attention regardless of who ends up in the final. He also supports the idea of having a team event on the PGA TOUR where the players have microphones on and the event truly gives players a reason to want to participate with a lot of money and certain tournament exemptions up for grabs.
