Matteson Soars 180 Spots in World Rankings

Troy Matteson claimed his first PGA TOUR win Sunday at the Frys.com Open and that helped him make a big jump in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Matteson soared 180 places to No. 142 in the world.

The top-5 was unchanged from a week ago, but there was plenty of movement in the remainder of the top 20.

World No. 1 Tiger Woods was followed by Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and Vijay Singh.

Retief Goosen successfully defended his title at the Volkswagen Masters on the Asian Tour and that helped him move up one to sixth, bumping countryman Ernie Els to seventh. Luke Donald followed in eighth.

Geoff Ogilvy and Sergio Garcia exchanged places from last week with the Australian up to nine and the Spaniard down to 10. The next four -- Henrik Stenson, Padraig Harrington, Trevor Immelman and David Howell -- held steady from last week.

Paul Casey and Colin Montgomerie each jumped two spots to 15th and 16th respectively. To make room for those moves, David Toms dipped one to 17th, while Chris DiMarco slid three to No. 18.

Davis Love III and Jose Maria Olazabal remained 19th and 20th to round out the top 20 this week.
