The WGC-World Cup is heading outside China for the first time since 2006. It was confirmed Saturday that the biennial event will be held at Royal Melbourne in Australia in late November.

During his pre-tournament news conference at The Players, McDowell said that he recently had an informal conversation with Rory McIlroy about playing for Team Ireland at the World Cup.
“I think they’ve announced it’s going to be at Royal Melbourne,” he said Wednesday, “which is a cool and amazing golf course.”
Though no official date has been announced, the World Cup is expected to be played Nov. 21-24, the week after the Australian Masters at the same venue.
The U.S. team of the Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland won the most recent edition, in 2011. The event was held in China in 2007, ’08, ’09 and ’11.
