Bears running back D'Andre Swift fumbled four times in his first 33 games with the team, but he's been a little less adept at holding onto the ball in the early stages of this season.

Swift has fumbled twice, including one in the third quarter of last Sunday's win over the Jets. Head coach Ben Johnson called it "egregious" because of the way Swift was holding the ball and Swift was benched in favor of Kyle Monangai for the rest of the game.

Swift said there was no big conversation about the benching, but said he understands what happens when you turn the ball over and "I’ll take whatever comes with that." Swift also vowed to make sure it won't happen again in the future.

“I know that’s not me,” Swift said, via Dan Wiederer of TheAthletic.com. “That’s not a part of my game. It hasn’t been. So I’m not about to make it one. That’s over with now.”

The Bears haven't revealed their running back plans for this Sunday's game against the Packers, but injury could factor into it. Monangai has not practiced this week due to thumb and toe injuries, so Swift could get the chance to show he's cleaned things up by default.

Quarterback Jalon Daniels and the Buccaneers came into Dallas as big underdogs on Thursday night and the first Cowboys possession of the night did little to suggest oddsmakers had it wrong.

They rolled 70 yards in four minutes for a touchdown, but the Bucs came up with an answer that foreshadowed the way the game would actually play out. Daniels went 8-of-8 while leading a 10:58 drive that ended with a five-yard touchdown pass to running back Bucky Irving.

It was the second-longest scoring drive in Buccaneers history and Daniels said after the game that it gave the Bucs belief that they could win for the first time this season.

"That offense is a very high-scoring offense," Daniels said, via Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. "So, the more you're able to keep those playmakers off the field, the more you're able to go out there and get closer and closer to being able to get a win. And the fact that we were able to start the game that way and be able to gain confidence also for the rest of the game, I think that's where it catapulted from."

Daniels finished the night 19-of-25 for 189 yards while Irving ran 21 times for 165 yards and another score. The Bucs also won the turnover battle 3-0 and that kind of efficient play made the undrafted rookie quarterback a winner for the first time in the NFL. With Baker Mayfield still recovering from a dislocated thumb, Daniels will likely have at least one more chance to show that he belongs in the league.

As Dak Prescott walked through the AT&T Stadium tunnel to the Cowboys' locker room after Thursday night's loss to the Buccaneers, a stadium worker had one word for him.

"Embarrassing," the worker said as Prescott walked by.

Prescott looked at him, kept walking, and then said to a Cowboys employee, "Tough guy. Get his ass out of here."

The Cowboys employee walked toward the stadium worker, who appeared to have left the area by the time the Cowboys employee got there. PFT is told the worker was a driver employed by a third-party contractor.

Prescott was asked about it after the game and made clear he didn't appreciate it.

"When he said it I just happened to look at him, and at that point he looked away, didn't look, and when I turned my head back, he said something else," Prescott said. "So that's the part that, just as a man or a person, feel free to speak your mind. Just speak it. Don't coward away from the reaction that you're going to get. If you're saying it's embarrassing, say it's embarrassing. If you're saying it to me, say it to me. Don't go back on it. That's all it was. I hate that it's even being talked about, to be honest with you."

Prescott said he has too much respect for the Buccaneers to use the word "embarrassing" to describe the loss, but he acknowledged it was a game the Cowboys were supposed to win, and said head coach Brian Schottenheimer told the team that.

"To use the word 'embarrassing,' it's tough," Prescott said. "I feel like I'm discrediting the NFL if I use that, in particular the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the great Todd Bowles coach, defensive-coached team. The guy's been a winning coach for a long time and whether he's been a head coach or a defensive coordinator. The plan, what they did tonight, is the reason for that. To say 'embarrassing,' I think I'd be discrediting them. But we were definitely supposed to win this game. It was a game we were supposed to have on paper. I think Schotty said it best in the locker room. in this league You've got to win the games you're supposed to win, and when a winless team comes into your home stadium on a Thursday night, prime time game, yeah, we're supposed to win that. It sucks, right up close to embarrassing, but I don't know if I would say that."

And Prescott was not happy with the guy who did say that.

Jalon Daniels, the Buccaneers' undrafted rookie backup quarterback, played surprisingly well on Thursday night in an upset win over the Cowboys. But maybe it shouldn't have been so surprising.

Daniels continued a notable trend of this early NFL season, with teams winning more than they lose when starting a backup quarterback.

After Daniels and the Bucs won on Thursday night, NFL teams are now 8-4 in the 12 games started by backup quarterbacks this season.

In addition to the Bucs going 1-1 with Daniels, teams that have won games with their backups this year are the Giants (2-0 with Jameis Winston), the Bears (2-0 with Case Keenum), the Vikings (1-0 with Carson Wentz), the Seahawks (1-0 with Drew Lock) and the Commanders (1-1 with Marcus Mariota).

The Falcons drag the record down by going 0-2 with their third-string quarterback, Cooper Rush, who looked like a third-string quarterback when Michael Penix and Tua Tagovailoa were both injured for the first two games of the season. Atlanta is the only team that has started a backup quarterback and failed to win at least one game with him.

No team wants to lose its starting quarterback, but the results this season show that losing a starter doesn't have to be a disaster. Teams can and do win games with backup quarterbacks. This season, they've won twice as many games as they've lost.
