ESPN Cleveland suggests No. 100 overall pick WR Travis Benjamin could challenge Jordan Norwood to be the Browns’ slot receiver.
Benjamin played outside in college, but looks more like a slot receiver at 5'10/172. The former track athlete lacks size to win at flanker or split end in the pros. After running a 4.36 Combine 40, Benjamin will also get a look on returns.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Browns re-signed exclusive rights free agent WR Jordan Norwood to a one-year, $465,000 contract.
An undrafted free agent in 2009, Norwood had just one career appearance before playing in 14 games last season. He made four starts, and hauled in 23 catches for 268 yards and a touchdown. A 5-foot-11, 180-pound slot receiver, Norwood has limited to nonexistent fantasy upside in the Browns’ pop-gun attack.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Browns WR Jordan Norwood caught five passes for 32 yards in the team’s Week 8 loss to the 49ers.
The Browns used constant four-receiver sets after falling behind early, and weak-armed Colt McCoy targeted his (usually) left slot receiver six times. Norwood’s catch and yardage numbers both bettered his previous season totals.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Browns declared WR Jordan Norwood, QB Colt McCoy, CB James Dockery, OL Steve Vallos, DL Kiante Tripp, OL Oniel Cousins, and WR Rod Windsor inactive for Week 16 against the Ravens.
Norwood and McCoy are both out with concussions. Evan Moore’s snaps in the slot may increase with both Norwood out and Ben Watson now on injured reserve. Seneca Wallace will start at quarterback. No other surprises here.
  • FA Quarterback #9
Seneca Wallace will start for the Browns against the Ravens in Week 16.
Colt McCoy and Jordan Norwood won’t even make the trip to Baltimore due to their concussions. The Browns have not ruled out McCoy for the season finale. Rotoworld ranks Wallace No. 29 among fantasy options against a Ravens defense looking to bounce back from a poor performance in Week 15.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Browns WR Jordan Norwood (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 16.
Norwood and QB Colt McCoy will not even travel to Baltimore. Greg Little and Mohamed Massaquoi will start, with Josh Cribbs as the No. 3 receiver.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Jordan Norwood suffered a concussion in the third quarter of Sunday’s game and will not return.
Norwood will need to receive medical clearance before he can be cleared to practice next week. Carlton Mitchell replaces him as the Browns fourth receiver.
  • FA Quarterback
Browns coach Pat Shurmur said at his Monday press conference that Colt McCoy (concussion) is “improving,” but that it’s “too early to tell” if he’ll start Saturday.
Seneca Wallace hardly lit the world ablaze in McCoy’s absence Sunday, so McCoy should be under center against the Ravens as long as he passes his baseline tests and returns to practice. Shurmur also revealed WR Jordan Norwood is “day-to-day” after suffering a concussion in Sunday’s loss.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Browns declared WR Jordan Norwood (concussion) inactive for Sunday’s game against the Steelers.
Norwood appeared in 14 games this season and totaled 23 receptions for 268 yards. Browns inactives: QB Colt McCoy, WR Rod Windsor, CB James Dockery, OL Steve Vallos, DL Kiante Tripp and OL Tony Pashos.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Browns WR Jordan Norwood (concussion) has still not been medically cleared to play.
Norwood sustained his concussion in Week 15. His season will end with 23 catches for 268 yards and one touchdown in 14 games. The Browns are expected to add talent to the wide receiver position this offseason.
