Seagle fortifies Atlanta’s catching depth chart at Triple-A Gwinnett heading into next season. The 28-year-old backstop got into one game for the Padres during the 2023 season and spent all of last year at Triple-A El Paso, batting .180/.219/.280 with one homer in 38 games.

Seagle elected free agency at the conclusion of the 2023 campaign following his removal from San Diego’s 40-man roster. The 27-year-old backstop got into one contest for the Padres and will presumably open next season at Triple-A El Paso as emergency catching depth.

It’s the first trip to the show for the 27-year-old backstop, who was a 30th round selection by the Padres from the 2017 draft class. Seagle hit just .209/.261/.296 with three homers, 23 RBI and four stolen bases in 251 plate appearances between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A El Paso this season. He’ll add depth behind the plate for the final two games with Luis Campusano (ankle) heading to the injured list.
