Rockies signed 1B Jason Hinchman to a minor league contract.
Hinchman will get a shot in affiliated ball this season after hitting 26 homers last year at the collegiate level for Division I Tennessee Tech. The 23-year-old first baseman finished his collegiate career as the Ohio Valley Conference’s all-time home run leader with 70 round-trippers in five years.
