Nunnally .236/.346/.420 in 52 games before suffering a broken hand a month ago.

Chris Coste was placed on Indy’s suspended list, so Nunnally will rejoin the team just 10 days after he was released.

Nunnally should have spent more time in the majors during his prime, but he’s 33 now and he hit just .216/.323/.373 for Triple-A Indianapolis last season. He’ll probably bounce back as a Triple-A outfielder, but he’s not going to be a candidate to make the Pirates.

Nunnally is batting .289 with a 799 OPS in 12 games. The veteran outfielder should have been one of the Cardinals’ September callups after hitting .269 with 25 homers and a 922 OPS for Triple-A Memphis. He’s currently a minor league free agent.

Nunnally, 32, hit .269 with 25 homers and 922 OPS for the Cardinals’ Triple-A club last season and is currently batting .301 with am 882 OPS in the Mexican Pacific League. He’ll need to have a big spring in order to make the Brewers as a reserve outfielder.

The veteran outfielder was hitting .236/.346/.420 in 52 games this season.
