Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reports that the Angels have hired Doug White as their new pitching coach.

White was the bullpen coach of the Houston Astros in 2018 and was a minor league instructor in their system for several years before that. He will now join Brad Ausmus’ new staff in Anaheim, replacing Charles Nagy, who was dismissed today.

The Angels pitching staff, overall, was in the middle of the pack in the American League in 2018 which, given the amount of pitching injuries they had was actually a pretty good showing. There will be additional challenges in 2019, of course, as they will be without Shohei Ohtani due to his Tommy John surgery and stand to lose Garret Richards via free agency as well.
