Brandon Webb is finally ready to throw against some hitters, according to Richard Durrett of ESPNDallas.com.

“Maybe seeing some hitters will help me tighten up my command a little bit,” Webb said. “I’ve just felt a little wild.”

Webb declared himself ready to go after throwing 62 pitches in his most recent bullpen session yesterday. He has already completed four bullpen sessions this spring.

The 32-year-old right-hander hasn’t pitched in the majors since Opening Day of 2009 and while he says he has felt fine physically all spring, he’s currently running behind the other pitchers in Rangers’ camp. In short, his status for the start of the season is in serious doubt.

Webb acknowledged Saturday during an interview with Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic that he expects to begin the season on the disabled list, but added that “hopefully I’ll catch up and move right along.”
