On the one hand it is sorta crazy that a guy like Arroyo doesn’t have a job yet. He doesn’t have a qualifying offer attached to him, so it’s not going to cost any team a draft pick to sign him. He’s durable. He’s still useful, even at his age. And when you realize how, like, two weeks into every season there are multiple teams who have starting rotation issues, the idea that a perfectly decent one is sitting there is kind of hard to get your head around.

Seniority matters for some stuff in baseball, friend, but it doesn’t make you something you’re not. And given that you’re not laden with the comp-pick issue and stuff, perhaps this is just a function of you and your agent miscalculating your value a bit? Maybe? Hmm?
