Carlos Beltran will play through fractured toe
Carlos Beltran played through a fractured right pinkie toe during the World Baseball Classic, took some off to rest the injury once the tournament was over, and now plans to play through the pain.
“I can deal with what I feel,” Beltran told Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post Dispatch. “The doctor said it’s not going to get worse, so I just have to go day to day and see how I feel.”
Beltran is in the Cardinals’ lineup today, playing right field and batting fifth. Obviously having his bat in the lineup is the biggest key, but last season Beltran stole 13 bases and rated above average defensively in right field, so how well he’s able to move with a fractured toe is worth watching.
