Last night Carlos Beltran that he would waive his no-trade clause if it meant playing for a contender.
This isn’t terribly surprising -- he knows he’s off to somewhere new after this year and he’s been a rent-a-player before. And given that he’s healthy and productive this year -- and that there isn’t much offense to be had on the market -- he could be useful and attractive to any number of teams.
All of that said, the Mets are over .500 and playing pretty decently, so it’s not nuts to think that they would want to hold on to them for a potential run of their own.
