Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson confirmed to the media today that outfielder Cody Ross will begin the 2013 regular season on the disabled list, according to Steve Gilbert on Twitter.

Ross has been battling a lower left leg strain, forcing him to miss most of spring training. He has taken only seven at-bats and did not log a single hit.

Gilbert suggests on MLB.com that Ross could return during the second week of the season after the D-Backs return from a weekend three-game series in Milwaukee.
