Curtis Granderson began a minor-league rehab assignment last night at Single-A, playing five innings in the outfield and going 0-for-2 with a walk at the plate.
Granderson has been out since May 24 with a broken pinkie finger, but there’s no official timetable for his return to the Yankees’ lineup. When asked yesterday by Adam Berry of MLB.com, he replied: “Sooner than later.”
Rehab assignments can last a maximum of 20 days, meaning Granderson is on track to come off the disabled list by mid-August, although the clock can always be restarted if he suffers a setback of any kind.
