Arizona announced that Ian Kennedy will get the Opening Day assignment after throwing 194 innings with a 3.80 ERA last season.

Kennedy has bounced back nicely after injuries took him from top prospect to afterthought with the Yankees and he led the team in both wins and ERA last year, but as senor Calcaterra pointed out in his Diamondbacks season preview Daniel Hudson is probably the best bet to emerge as Arizona’s best starter this year.

And then there’s the veteran of the rotation, Joe Saunders, who presumably would have gotten the Opening Day nod had he not forgotten how to win last season. Funny how that works.
