Dodgers designate Chone Figgins for assignment
Chone Figgins stuck around a whole lot longer than most people expected, but his comeback with the Dodgers is over and he’s been designated for assignment.
Figgins hasn’t played since mid-June because of a hip injury and rather than activate him from the disabled list the Dodgers said goodbye.
Figgins managed to post a strong .372 on-base percentage in 38 games, but he hit just .217 with zero homers and a .267 slugging percentage on the way to a measly .640 OPS. Of course, that was his highest OPS since 2010 and he didn’t play in the majors at all last season.
