GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Dodgers rookie shortstop Corey Seager will undergo an MRI on his sore left knee Saturday.
Pain in the knee forced Seager to leave in the third inning of an 8-4 spring training loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.
Seager told manager Dave Roberts that he injured the knee rounding first base after hitting a single in the first inning. Roberts pulled Seager after he hit a pop-up in his second at-bat.
Roberts says the decision to schedule an MRI was not heightening his concern about the injury’s severity yet, adding that, “Until we see the images, I’ll hold back.”
The Dodgers top prospect was not scheduled to play Saturday night in either of Los Angeles’ split-squad games.
