Athletics second baseman Eric Sogard underwent surgery on his left knee on Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Sogard needed to have his pointed patella tendon shaved and some bone spurs removed. He’s expected to miss 6-8 weeks, CSN California’s Joe Stiglich noted last week.

Sogard went on the disabled list just before the regular season began with a neck injury, then aggravated his knee injury during a rehab game with Single-A Stockton.

In 2015, Sogard hit .247/.294/.304 with 16 extra-base hits and six stolen bases in 401 plate appearances for the A’s.
