Baseball fans only know Fay Vincent as the mostly ineffective Commissioner of Baseball who followed Giamatti and preceded Selig. But he did have a successful business career before he did all that. He was the CEO of Columbia pictures. An executive vice president of Coca-Cola. And he draws on that experience today to offer young executives some leadership tips.

They’re mostly smart. Especially the over-arching theme which is “tell the truth.” Funny how that one gets missed so often.

One thing that Vincent leaves out, however, is “never take a job from 26 over-privileged, monopoly-protected, primarily-money-inheriting jerks.” If only someone had told him that back in 1989.
