The ride might be over for the 2014 Mariners ...
Felix Hernandez was lit up for eight earned runs in just 4 2/3 innings and Seattle’s offense didn’t make any noise beyond the top of the third as the M’s fell 10-2 to the host Blue Jays on Tuesday evening in Toronto. It’s the fourth straight loss for the Mariners, who are now three games back of the Royals for the second American League Wild Card spot with just five games to play. The fast-collapsing Mariners have dropped 11 of 16 games dating back to September 7.
Along with the Wild Card standings impact is how Tuesday’s rough outing might affect King Felix’s bid for the American League Cy Young Award, which he seemed to have a firm grip on just a few weeks ago. Consider this ...After tonight ... Felix: 2.60 FIP, 9.4 K/9 in 230 2/3 IP Kluber: 2.39 FIP, 10.2 K/9 in 227 2/3 IP
