Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports that the Giants have placed catcher Buster Posey on the seven-day concussion disabled list. The Giants have called up catcher Tim Federowicz and designated Clayton Blackburn.
Posey was hit in the head with a Taijuan Walker fastball on Sunday afternoon against the Diamondbacks. He was immediately removed from the game and underwent concussion protocol. Posey reportedly felt fine on Monday, but the Giants are understandably playing it safe.
Nick Hundley will handle the lion’s share of work behind the plate with Federowicz backing him up while Posey is out.
