MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reports that the Indians are considering free agent outfielder Austin Jackson. He also notes that the White Sox, Angels, Brewers, and Rangers are other potential landing spots for the veterans.
The Indians make a logical fit for Jackson, though, as the club is currently slated to start Abraham Almonte in center field and Rajai Davis in left with Michael Brantley out until April or May after undergoing offseason surgery on his right shoulder.
Jackson, 29, has been reliable since making his major league debut in 2010, playing in at least 129 games each season. Last year, with the Mariners and Cubs, he hit .267/.311/.385 with nine home runs and 48 RBI. For the most part, he has also graded out as a plus defender and provided speed on the base paths.
