Joc Pederson now up to seven straight homers

Joc Pederson

I haven’t seen anything like this since an active Mark McGwire walked the earth. Joc Pederson: Exclusive Home Run Hitter.

The other day we talked about how his previous five hits, going back to the Giants series last week, were homers. He went hitless that night, but last night he hit two more home runs -- one on the fifth inning, one in the eighth -- and notched no other safeties. That makes it seven straight homers in seven straight hits for Pederson. In his last nine games, Pederson 8-for-30 with seven homers, a double -- which came before his homer in the first game of the streak -- six walks and 13 strikeouts.

Such a weird start. And so much fun. Not sustainable, of course, as eventually some of those bombs will ricochet off walls instead of going over them and some of his groundouts will sneak through the infield. But it’s been quite the thing, yes?
