UPDATE: Welp, so much for that. Angel Pagan flied out on the first pitch he saw in the seventh, then Buster Posey grounded out, having made Lester throw only two pitches. That brought up Hunter Pence, who only saw four pitches himself, but he made the third one count, jacking a home run to left field on the 1-2 pitch. Oh well.

3:57 PM: The Cubs are facing the Giants today. Yesterday the Cubs pitchers handcuffed Giants hitters over the last six innings of the game. Today Jon Lester is doing it single-handedly to San Francisco, having tossed six no-hit innings to start the game.

Lester has walked one, so it’s not a perfecto, but he has also needed only 66 pitches to get through six, putting him in great position for the final three frames.

The Cubs lead 2-0, so it’s still a close game, of course. We’ll obviously keep you updated.
