The Diamondbacks placed right-hander Josh Collmenter on the disabled list before last night’s game due to ulcers. No further information was provided by the team, but Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson told Tyler Emrick of MLB.com that he got ill after the team returned from their 10-game roadtrip on Thursday.
Collmenter has been valuable in a swing man role this season, posting a 4.24 ERA and 69/18 K/BB ratio over 74 1/3 innings in nine starts and 13 relief appearances. He was recently moved back to the bullpen in order to make room for rookie left-hander Patrick Corbin in the starting rotation.
Brad Bergesen was called up from Triple-A Reno to replace Collmenter on the active roster. The 26-year-old right-hander was claimed off waivers from the Orioles last month and owns a 4.64 ERA in the big leagues.
