Listen to Pete Seeger talk about baseball stuff

Screen Shot 2014-01-28 at 12.37.48 PM

The great Pete Seeger died yesterday. When you get to 94 you’ve pretty much seen it all, and that goes doubly so for a guy who was in and around the stuff Seeger was around.

One of the things he was around a bit? Baseball. Maybe not in an extensive way, but Old Gator sent me links to several YouTube videos in which Seeger, while attending a minor league game in 2012, it appears, talked about the origins of baseball and the integration of baseball. The question he was asked about Jackie Robinson led him to a discussion of Lester Rodney, the old Daily Worker sports reporter who championed baseball integration for years before 1947.

The quality is somewhat poor, but it’s worth getting through all the same.
