Mychael Urban of CSN Bay Area reports that Giants’ leftfielder Mark DeRosa re-aggravated his left wrist injury in a minor league rehab game, will need major surgery and is “all but done for the year.
DeRosa, who has hit just .194 in the majors this year, has a ruptured nerve sheath, which has rendered his left hand virtually numb. He had surgery to fix the problem last year, but has called it “a total failure.”
It’s too early to apply the same phraseology to the two-year, $12 million deal the Giants gave DeRosa last winter, but we’re halfway there.
