1B/OF Mark Trumbo has rejected the Orioles’ $17.2 million qualifying offer, Dan Connolly of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports. As a result, the Orioles will receive draft pick compensation if Trumbo signs with a new team.

This news comes as no surprise, as Trumbo is coming off of a terrific season and figures to strike a big deal in a weak free agent market. The slugger mashed a major-league best 47 homers this past season, knocking in 108 runs and compiling a .256/.316/.533 triple-slash line in 667 plate appearances.

Our own Matthew Pouliot ranked Trumbo ninth among all free agents in his compilation posted earlier this month.
