Mike Minor arbitration hearing scheduled for Feb. 19

Mike Minor and the Braves were only $500,000 apart in their arbitration filings last month, but the two sides have been unable to bridge the gap so far and David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution says a hearing has been scheduled for February 19. That’s just one day before Braves pitchers and catchers are due to report to camp in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Minor registered a disappointing 4.77 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 7.4 K/9 in 145 1/3 innings last season after getting off to a late start due to a shoulder injury. He had a tremendous 3.21 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 8.0 K/9 in 204 2/3 frames for the Braves in 2013.

Minor, 27, is arbitration-eligible for the second time in his career. He asked for a salary of $5.6 million and the Atlanta front office offered him $5.1 million when figures were exchanged on January 16.
