The hammer has dropped. Major League Baseball will suspend Padres outfielder Carlos Quentin eight games for charging the mound during last night’s game against the Dodgers, according to Jeff Passan.

Indians starter Carlos Carrasco got eight games for throwing at Kevin Youkilis, so the perceived inequality is bound to start some heated debate. Quentin will likely appeal the suspension. Meanwhile, Greinke is expected to miss at least eight weeks after he has surgery to put a rod in his clavicle.
