Brewers starter Shaun Marcum recieved good news Sunday morning about the status of his sore hip.
According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, an MRI showed no structural damage and there’s a chance that Marcum will be cleared to make his next scheduled start. An official decision won’t be made in that regard until the Brewers’ team physician gets a look at the hip on Monday morning in Milwaukee.
Marcum, who was acquired this winter from the Blue Jays for infielder prospect Brett Lawrie, is 7-2 with a 2.85 ERA over his first 15 starts this season. He has tallied 84 strikeouts and only 24 walks in 91 2/3 innings.
If Marcum can’t go Wednesday against the Rays, the Brewers could turn to long reliever Marco Estrada.
