Awful news from Yonkers, New York: Mike Nolan, the Oakland A’s 18th round selection in the 2014 draft, was shot in the head and torso in a drive-by shooting early this morning outside of a fast food restaurant. He is listed in “very serious condition.”
Authorities say the victim was standing outside his car with his friends when he was shot. Police say the suspect drove up on a service road and fired five or six shots at the victim before driving off. There was no return fire . . . Authorities say the two may have been involved in an earlier dispute but police believe Nolan was an innocent victim.
Nolan is listed as a member of the short season Arizona Athletics, though he has been on the restricted list and has not played for them.
