The Phillies have claimed reliever Ken Roberts off waivers from the Rockies and optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki reports.
Roberts, 27, allowed six runs on 13 hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings at the big league level for the Rockies this season. He struggled at Triple-A Albuquerque as well, posting a 5.12 ERA with a 28/4 K/BB ratio in 31 2/3 innings.
Roberts will serve as relief depth and could join the Phillies’ bullpen when rosters expand on Tuesday.
