A sudden drenching from Tropical Storm Lee (and lingering rainwater from Hurricane Irene) has produced an enormous amount of flooding this week in parts of the northeast United States. The nasty weather has only affected major league teams in the form of postponements and cancellations.
But it’s wreaking havoc on one of the Nationals’ minor league affiliates.
Below is a recently-tweeted snapshot from Double-A Harrisburg infielder Tim Pahuta. It shows the Senators’ Metro Bank Park, almost fully engulfed by the rising waters of the Susquehanna River. Tragic stuff:
Bryce Harper finished out his 2011 season in that very park and the Senators were scheduled to host Eastern League playoff games early next week. Those contests will obviously have to be moved to a different site.
