According to Matt Eddy of Baseball America, the Rays have signed corner infielder/DH Juan Francisco to a minor league contract.
Francisco spent last season with the Blue Jays and batted .220 with 16 home runs and a .747 OPS over 106 games. He was claimed off waivers by the Red Sox in November, but became a free agent after being non-tendered last month.
Francisco owns a .236 career batting average with a 34-percent strikeout rate, but he offers some power against right-handers and could have value as a bench player with Tampa Bay.
