Update #2 (8:55 PM EST): Per Rosenthal, Greinke will get $206 million from the Diamondbacks on his six-year deal with deferrals. That’s an average annual value of $34.3 million, which is $3.3 million per year more than David Price got on his seven-year, $217 million deal with the Red Sox.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports hears from sources that the Diamondbacks are pursuing free agent starter Zack Greinke. J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles News Group hears from an agent not affiliated with Greinke that the Diamondbacks have the money to pull off a deal.
The Diamondbacks have been most recently linked with free agent starter Johnny Cueto, who reportedly turned down a six-year contract offer from the club, as well as Japanese starter Kenta Maeda.
Greinke, 32, opted out of his six-year, $147 million deal with the Dodgers after three seasons. He had earned $64 million over those three years. The right-hander pieced together an outstanding 2015 campaign, leading the majors with a 1.66 ERA and a 0.844 WHIP, along with a 19-3 record and a 200/40 K/BB ratio in 222 2/3 innings.
