Report: Utley will not be suspended for Tejada takeout slide

While baseball has recently adjusted sliding rules on the bases, it won’t have an impact on Chase Utley’s appeal over his two-game suspension.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Utley, whose slide broke Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada’s leg in Game 2 of the NLDS, will not be suspended at all this season.

Tejada’s broken leg has recovered from the slide and he’s currently practicing with the Mets in Port St. Lucie.

Utley, 37, re-signed with the Dodgers in the offseason after coming over in a trade from the Philadelphia Phillies in August.
