Out since May 5 with a strained shoulder, Franklin Morales was activated from the disabled list today and bullpen-mate Huston Street may not be far behind. Jim Armstrong of the Denver Post notes that Street reported no problems following a 20-pitch simulated game yesterday, so barring a setback he’ll begin a brief rehab assignment Friday at Triple-A and the final hurdle will likely be pitching on back-to-back days at some point next week. “Once he does that, he’ll be re-evaluated and we’ll go from there,” manager Jim Tracy said. “We’ll see where it takes us.” Armstrong speculates that Street could be back in the bullpen by the middle of the month, presumably reclaiming closer duties from Manny Corpas. If everyone is healthy, Street closing while being set up by Corpas from the right side and Morales from the left side is a shutdown combination.
